Project team DIAUSS consisting of 15 representatives from Serbia (Academic partners: 8 UKG, 3 UNS and Non-academic partners (1 SCE, 1 RCCK, 1 SCTM, 1 HS1) visited Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) from September 16th to 20th, 2013. In accordance with previously agreed visit Agenda, the meetings were held at Faculty of Environmental Engineering, Municipality of Vilnius and its Traffic Control Centre and urban engineering companies (Urbanistika LTD and TAEM Urbanistai Ltd) in Vilnius.
The first morning meeting on September 17th, which was held at Faculty of Environmental Engineering, was related to lectures of prof. Marija Burinskienė (Head of Urban Engineering Department) – Urban Engineering Study programs at VGTU, prof. Rasa Vaiškūnaitė (Vice-dean of Faculty of Environmental Engineering) – VGTU – international academic cooperation and prof. Asta Radzevičienė (Vice-rector for International Relations) – Studies at VGTU: principles and processes. Beside, Director of Distance Learning Centre, Vaidotas Trinkūnas had presentation Long Life Learning at VGTU. Afternoon session was dedicated to the visit of several laboratories: Civil Engineering Research Centre, Mobile Laboratory of Environmental Technologies and Visit to VGTU Road Laboratory. The laboratories were presented in detailed and heads of the laboratories showed laboratory facilities and equipment to representatives from Serbian delegation and explained student requirements when they perform laboratory exercises. After the visit to the laboratories, participants from Serbian delegation had a chance to see the examples of final and complex projects thesis prepared at VGTU – at bachelor and master urban engineering study programs.
On September 18th, 2013, Serbian delegations saw the ways of VGTU cooperate with municipality and companies on different programs and activities related to urban and sustainable development. First, the group visited Vilnius Municipality where M. Monkevicius had the presentation Vilnius: Challenges and Actions. Then, the group visited Traffic Control Centre of Vilnius Municipality. The afternoon program was designated to the visit to urban engineering companies (Urbanistika LTD and TAEM Urbanistai Ltd) in Vilnius.
Project quality control meeting was held at VGTU premises on September 19th. After presentation on realized project activities by project coordinator, the meeting and discussions related to the quality of the achieved project outcomes were organized. It was concluded that the level of achievement of the project objectives is according to project proposal and the prospects of achieving project objectives by the end of the project financing are realistic.
